HERBAL & NATUROPATHIC PRACTICE

Our bodies are relational. They are constantly conversing with the various elements of their inner and outer environments: food, sleep, work, weather, stress, pleasure, lack of pleasure, place, history, microbiome, other microbiomes, and the wider more-than-human world.

Dheghom approaches health from within these relations, drawing on Western herbal medicine, naturopathy, nutrition and contemporary research.

Rather than considering symptoms in isolation, we look at one's being in context: patterns, rhythms, (im)balances and ways of adapting. Consultations are slow and detailed, informed by clinical training, close listening, and the living intelligence of plants.

The aim is not to impose another system of control upon the body, but to understand what may be asking for attention and to find practical ways of supporting it.

You might come with something specific you would like help with, with a pattern that has been difficult to decipher, or simply with curiosity about what herbal medicine might offer you.

How we work

01 / CONSULTATION

60–80 minutes

CONSULTATION

We begin with a conversation.

There is time to talk about what brought you here, but also about the wider terrain of your life: your health history, digestion, sleep, energy, nourishment, menstrual and hormonal health where relevant, medications and supplements, movement, emotional life, spiritual life, environment and everyday rhythms.

The intention is not to collect symptoms and assign remedies to them one by one, but to understand the threads of connection between what is happening within you and the environment in which you live – and how we might support or recalibrate these relations better.

02 / TREATMENT PLAN

1-month plan

TREATMENT PLAN

Following the consultation, I develop an individual plan based on what we have discussed.

Depending on what is appropriate, this may include recommendations around:

daily rhythms / food / rest / movement / stress / nutritional support / herbal remedies

The intention is to make the plan realistic enough to live with.

You will receive your written plan after the consultation, together with instructions for any herbal preparations.

03 / PLANT REMEDIES

2-4 weeks protocol

PLANT REMEDIES

Where appropriate, I formulate an individual herbal preparation for you.

Rather than working from standardised protocols alone, plants are selected in relation to the individual being at a given moment: their background and constitution, and their current state of health.

Preparations may include teas, tinctures or other forms depending on what is appropriate and practically available.

Herbs are charged separately from the consultation. Where herbs are being prepared and posted, timing and availability will be confirmed following the consultation.

04 / FOLLOW-UP

45–60 minutes

FOLLOW-UP

Healing rarely follows a straight line.

Follow-up consultations give us time to see what has changed, what has not, how your body has responded, and whether the original approach still makes sense.

Herbal formulations and other recommendations are then adjusted accordingly.

There is no required programme or predetermined number of appointments. We continue for as long as the work is useful.

WHAT CAN WE WORK WITH?

People come to herbal and naturopathic practice for many different reasons.

You might be living with a recurring or persistent concern. You might want support around digestion, sleep, energy, stress, skin, menstrual or hormonal health. You might feel that several seemingly unrelated things are happening at once.

Or you may be well and simply curious about how plants, nourishment and everyday practices might support your optimal state of wellbeing.

You do not need to know whether your concern is "suitable for naturopathy" before getting in touch. Where something falls outside my scope, I will say so and, where appropriate, suggest that you speak with your medical doctor or another qualified practitioner.

Medicines / remedies

Dheghom does not understand herbal and conventional medicine as enemies, but rather as approaches emerging from different ways of understanding body, spirit, health and disease.

Herbal and naturopathic practice can sit alongside appropriate medical care.

I do not ask clients to stop prescribed medication, nor to replace or forego necessary medical investigations. Existing conditions, medications, test results and other forms of care are considered as part of the whole picture.

Where something requires medical or psychotherapeutic intervention, testing, imaging or another form of care, I may suggest speaking with your doctor or another appropriately qualified practitioner.

Plants are powerful. Herbal preparations need to be considered carefully alongside medications, existing conditions and individual circumstances.
